July 17, 2000

My goodness how time flies when you're having drama. I really can't talk about it, but I think it's sorted out. Sitting here I feel like the Universe STILL has a lot it wants to teach me. Mostly about the person I am and the person I want to be.

Today I wanted to talk about life. Pretty simple word made of just four letters said in a single syllable in a split second. I remember a week or so ago reading on the web about the people that died in a garbage heap collapse and about how sad and painful that must have been. When you start to complain about your life, just think about these people and how destitute they were in order to be LIVING AT THE BOTTOM OF A GARBAGE HEAP scrounging for things to sell to stay alive. These are the kinds of lessons too many of us don't learn. Compassion and empathy. Two words you don't hear a lot about nowadays. I have a great life and believe me, I am thankful EVERY DAY that I have what I have. I work hard for what I have, but mostly the Universe has put me in the right place at the right time and I am sure there are people out there more deserving. I won't look my "gift horse in the mouth" as we sometimes say, but at least I appreciate what I do have. So what am I trying to say? No one has said it better than the song "I Hope You Dance" by LeAnn Womak.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leave you empty handed

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit out or dance,

I hope you danceā€¦I hope you dance

It may sound corny, and perhaps a little naive, but I hope you "dance". If you don't, then you're just a fool.

On to more exciting and positive things! So what's going on in the DC's life? Well the dance team I do the choreography for is performing this weekend at the SEGRA rodeo! I am hoping for a good performance. Keep in mind we've only been working on this routine for like three weeks, but the dancers have put in extra practices and it's made all the difference. They're doing excellent!

Been talking with this guy I met on the Internet who's really funny. I call him the "Bane of My Existence" ;) He seems nice.

Work is going great! The big Secure Remote Access project I've kind of been spearheading is coming to a close. Hopefully I'll be done in a week or so. Have lots of little ends to tie up though. Hopefully it'll all get sorted out. The security model we are under constraints to preserve is primarily host based and what we're doing is seriously unorthodox, but hey, it works! :) (enough of the geek shtuff, eh?)

So my car was paid off last month! (everybody "yay!") Man...not having a car note brings a whole new meaning to the word "compulsive shopper". ;) I'm being good though with reigning myself in. (Gosh, I HATE doing that ;))
